MEDIATE PlayBack Festival
Battery Townsley, Marin Headlands

A composition for voice and movement created for the MEDIATE Playback festival in collaboration with the vocal-dance cast of the Containment Scenario series. Performing a work integrating composition, choreography, and structured improvisation, Sugar Pine Tesla activates the sonic, visual, and constructive aspects of Battery Townsley, an historic concrete and steel WWII harbor fortification overlooking the ocean in the hills of the Marin Headlands. The intermedia work attempts to creates an aural and visual surround sound, multi-directional, moving, shifting, reverberating dialogue with the decommissioned battery and its surrounding natural environment.
